At my third mentor visit with Dr. Didehbani, I had the opportunity of viewing her in her clinic space at the UT Southwestern Frisco campus. Normally, we set up a virtual conference from her home, but Dr. Didehbani informed me that on Tuesdays and Thursdays she is at the clinic so we arranged a date where I could view her work environment. It was an incredibly unique experience to have as it simulated how it would feel like in a real clinical setting over Zoom, and I even got to experiment with some of her commonly used neuropsychiatric diagnostic tests. In addition to viewing Dr. Didehbani's clinic and workspace, I also got to experience a virtual tour of the UT Southwestern Frisco campus. Ms. Meadows also spoke to the patient-guided nature of the month-long therapy sessions, as patients have more freedom to speak about their experiences and meet patients on the wide spectrum of COVID diagnoses, from moderate symptoms like prolonged asthma to life-threatening symptoms like a myocardial infarction. I believe I was very successful in engaging in a productive and informative mentor visit, as well as asking thoughtful questions to both Ms. Meadows and Dr. Didehbani. I have learned the various procedures required to conduct a successful therapy group, the types of discussion questions asked, the types of patients selected, and other aspects. I am excited to take these teachings into the completion of my Final Product as I study the correlation between COVID-19 and neural function.
