I have now completed the majority of my research for the Overview of Pap Smears, which is Part 1 of my final product, which is a patient's guide to a pap smear. Although I have made significant progress by tying in the secondary sources I've read and researched upon, I believe there is still more progress to be made. I want to do more research into the areas of inquiry I am confused or do not have enough information about that I've discovered in my first and second research assessments. These areas include research on the incidence rates of HPV actually developing into cervical cancer, the various tools used in a Pap smear, such as the speculum and the cervical brush, and more details regarding the history of the Pap smear. Since this guide will need to be persuasive and informative, I want to establish my credibility by providing the most accurate and recent information as possible, so I will also need to undergo the process of double-checking and verifying that every portion of information presented is applicable to all women. After these steps, I need to work on writing my final content and finish up the section. Unlike what I did with my original work, which was to compile all of my evidence and then convert it into a final, academic paper, I would like to make sections of academic paper at a time, so by the end of the 15 weeks, I will have a cumulative and chronologically organized final paper ready to present. I hope to continue on my ISM journey and expand my knowledge in the field of OB/GYN by pushing myself to be as accurate and informative as possible.
