I am excited to commence my Final Product exploring the relationship between COVID-19 and neural function in a comprehensive literature review. Although there is limited current knowledge available due to the extremely recent discovery of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its disease progression, I am prepared for the challenge of exploring this deadly and complex infection and increasing my awareness of the circumstances around me. At my third mentor visit with Dr. Didehbani, we were scheduled to discuss how to effectively construct a proper scientific literature review. I sought to explore how to credibly source medical information, especially in a time of mass medical misinformation, synthesize my findings into a cohesive analysis, and structure my paper for easy comprehension. Unfortunately, Dr. Didehbani had to cancel our mentor visit last week due to unforeseen circumstances, but I look forward to preparing further and meeting her again this Thursday.

I am also thrilled to be showcasing my first semester progress in my ISM Research Presentation this Wednesday. I cannot wait to explain the variety of valuable perspectives I gained from sourcing professionals serving in different areas of study within my larger focus of psychology. Furthermore, I hope to present my Original Work, which included a personalized mental health app quiz that matched users to a free, easy-to-use, self-paced therapy app for their mental health needs. I created my Original Work with youth in mind as young individuals are often hesitant to seek professional counseling. By providing an effective, yet hassle-free strategy to ease into therapy interventions, I hope to encourage more people, including my peers, to courageously take more autonomy over their mental health.
