Over the weekend, I had success in contacting Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Dr. Diana Sabagh of Bent Tree Psychiatric Association in Plano, Texas. We are currently working to schedule a time that works best for us, but I am thrilled to speak with an adolescent psychiatrist as it is an opportunity for me to explore a new subfield within psychiatry and connect it with my neuropsychology research. I have also been working on my Original Work, which is to create an online healthcare platform that connects individuals to appropriately tailored mental health apps. I am currently still in the stage of conducting research, as that is what the majority of time is centered around, and by Wednesday I plan on compiling all of my work into a cohesive and user-friendly website. I also had the opportunity to interact with my fellow ISM students and gain their insights into my Original Work and their success in the mentorship process. It was encouraging to receive support from my peers on their techniques in emailing interviewees to become mentors, especially in a virtual environment, and I am excited to apply the skills I have learned from my conversations to approach a potential mentor.
