Although I have already interviewed four professionals in the field of neuroscience and neuropsychology and had wonderful experiences learning from their invaluable expertise, I would still like to continue interviewing professionals. I believe it would best suit my interests and my specific focus in understanding the underlying neural mechanisms behind anxiety and depression with a psychiatrist or clinical psychologist as they have greater experience treating mental disorders. Over the past week, I've contacted numerous physicians at the UT Southwestern Dallas campus and through LinkedIn, but have not heard back from any of them. Despite these challenges, I will continue to persevere and maximize my time emailing more professionals with the hope that the more I email, the greater chance I have at a response. Today, I have emailed Dr. Suselina Acosta, Dr. Farida Ali, Dr. Olufunke Awosogba, Dr. Lakeisha Green, Dr. Mili Khandheria, Dr. Shalini Maharaj, Dr. Kapila Marambage, Dr. Samaiya Mushtaq, Dr. Ahmed Raza, Dr. Sunita Stewart, Dr. Sidarth Wakhlu, Dr. Collin Vas, and Dr. Mohona Sadhu at the UT Southwestern Medical Center's Division of Psychiatry. I have also contacted the Vice Dean of Research at UT Austin's Dell Medical Center and the Associate Vice President of Regional Mental Health, Dr. Steve Strakowski, who I have just scheduled an interview with for December 1st. I believe I was very successful in contacting interviewees and using my time wisely and I hope to hear back from a few to schedule some interviewees. I am planning on finalizing a mentor before December 5th, which is a long time from now, but I think this additional time will allow me to be deliberate and careful in choosing a mentor that aligns best with my interests.
