This Wednesday, January 15th, is our ISM Research Showcase at the Star and I am incredibly excited to present the culmination of my first semester work to my teachers, family, and peers. Last week, I finalized the preparations necessary for Research Showcase, such as updating the last few items in my Research Portfolio and correcting mistakes on my Display Board. It is extremely important to me that both my Research Portfolio and my Display Board are professional, attractive, and informative to convey to my audience exactly what my research was, how I conducted it, and the dedication and passion I put into my original work. I am also thrilled that my mentor is allowing me to use display models for my board, such as models of Nexplanon, which is an insertable birth control in the arm, and the vagina. These models I believe will truly enhance the presentation of my work and allow for an interactive demonstration for the audience to engage with. Lastly, I also planned my third mentor visit for this week on Tuesday, January 14th. I really hope to see a delivery or a new procedure this time! Last mentor visit, I fainted due to vasovagal syncope, the body's involuntary response to a situation of extreme emotional distress, such as the sight of blood. I hope for a better outcome this time and that I will not pass out, but be attentive and gain valuable observational skills and experiences.
